I mentioned in my last blog post that we were waiting for some missing pieces to arrive so that we could continue on with the cabin build. In the meantime we got started on the deck.
We wanted the deck in front of the cabin to be six feet in depth and the deck on the side to be four feet so we bought some 10 foot deck boards and cut them down to size so we would have zero waste. It worked out great but we ended up four boards short to finish the front of the deck…
At the end of day four it looked like this…
We headed to Lowe’s that evening and picked up what we needed to finish the front deck as well as stuff needed for the side deck. Of course, before we headed out I had to get another shot of the view from inside the cabin along with the new deck. Can you imagine morning coffee or tea on the deck?!
The next day I had to go to work so CountryBoy was on his own. He finished the front deck and knocked out the side deck by the time I got home. By the end of day five the cabin site looked like this…
We were now at a point where we needed to decide what to work on next in order to keep the project moving along when, lo and behold, the missing pieces arrived Saturday morning!
Two long cardboard boxes. Yay! We can now finish the cabin before moving to the next project. (Looks like we’ll be laboring on Labor Day, wink!)
Yesterday afternoon we took a little break and spent some time fishing (CountryBoy) and relaxing (me) at a friends place. . .
He didn’t catch anything but it was a nice change of scenery and a welcomed time of relaxation.
Tomorrow we’ll be back on the hillside and tackling the eaves and roofline. I’m hoping I can hold up my end of the workload as we are now at a point where my strength, or lack thereof, could make a difference on how easily we get the eaves and the rafters done. Any and all prayers for strength and safety for us would be greatly appreciated.
We hope y’all have a wonderful and safe Labor Day weekend!
